Introducing our amazing recycled yarn!
Our recycled yarn is from our local mill, and is a collection of bits of yarn from when the spinning process went awry. I am buying this recycled yarn from our local mill to save it going to waste or landfill.
Our local mill processes lots of different types of fibre, from wool, alpaca and mohair to plant based fibres such as nettle, so the recycled yarn is a mixture of fibres, and contains some natural undyed fibres, with some bits of colour here and there too, which make for perfect accenting on your makes!
Sold as a 500g batch, this recycled yarn can be used as core to sculpt for needle felting - use it as base, and then add your carded fibre on top. It creates a very solid core with not much work needed to felt it into a piece. (see photos)
It's also brilliant to use for weaving - I've added a photo of a seat pad made on a peg loom from the recycled yarn.
Every batch is unique so photos are indicitive only of what you'll receive.
Reducing waste, together with reusing and repurposing fibre is a sustainable winner all around - the mill have an outlet for their waste yarn, I have a great product to sell, and my customers have an extremely budget friendly way to source fibre for their creations!
