Some customers are looking specifically for wool from non slaughter sheep, and mohair from non slaughter goats.
I'll be making it easier to find this in my website - all products with a V in the title, and in this section are either from my own non slaughter flock and herd, or from friend's non slaughter sheep!
Our natural fibres in the section are from wool-only flocks, sometimes called pet flocks. These are farmers and smallholders that raise their sheep for wool only, and will not send them to slaughter for meat, therefore producing slaughter free wool
This wool is also sometimes called cruelty free wool. It's worth pointing out that mulesing is a practice that is illegal in the UK, therefore ALL of our fibres, in the whole of our shop are from mulesing-free flocks.
We have a number of vegan customers, who prefer to buy our non-slaughter wool, rather than use synthetics, which cause microplastic pollution, or fibres such as bamboo, which is grown in China, and has a massive enviromental impact turning the bamboo into fibres which can be used for felting or similar - the processes of turning plant based fibres into felting wool and similar is a heavy industrial process that requires a lot of power, resources and factories!
